Cruise Tourism Boost for Kenya as MV Viking Sky Docks in MombasaA magnificent welcome unfolded at the Port of Mombasa as the cruise ship MV Viking Sky docked at Berth One, bringing approximately 750 passengers and 450 crew members to Kenya’s coast.The vessel arrived at around 7:30am after sailing from the Seychelles, and passengers were greeted with vibrant performances from traditional dancers, showcasing the rich culture and hospitality of the Kenyan coast.Tourists were swiftly transferred in a fleet of tour vehicles to explore some of Kenya’s most iconic attractions — including world-famous game parks, pristine beaches, and cultural heritage sites — highlighting the country’s diverse tourism offering.Officials from the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Kenya Tourism Board, and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) were present to receive the ship and its visitors. During the visit, KWS officially launched its new “Cruise-to-Park” initiative, offering tour operators a 30% incentive for bringing groups of 100 or more cruise tourists to Kenya’s national parks.
